Michael Jackson has become a Muslim and changed his name to Mikaeel.

The singer (50) decided to give into the call of Islam, thus he vowed to the Kuran during a ceremony at a friend`s villa, The Sun writes.

After an Imam was called to hold the sermon, Jacko got down on the floor, wearing a tiny hat.

A source said Jackson decided to convert on Thursday night in his friend`s home studio, where he was recording his new album.

The star noticed that The producer and lyricists, both Muslims, noticed Jackson was feeling a bit under the weather.

- They began talking to him about their beliefs, and how they thought they had become better people after they converted. Michael soon began warming to the idea – a source said.

An Imam was summoned and Michael went through the shahada, a Muslim religious ritual. His new name, Mikaeel, is the name of one of Allah`s angels and he chose it after being given the alternate name Mustafa, which means the chosen one.

British singer Yousef Islam (60), famous as Cat Stavenes, who also converted to Islam, contacted Jackson to help him celebrate.

Mikaeel, who now prays to Mecca, is awaiting a 4.7 million pound trial, where he is scheduled to appear on Monday.
